A few of our more spectactular gigs: a short report...
Alcester Town Hall - 04/02/06 - You probably already know that this was a party for Emma & Lucy,
and it went swimmingly. We introduced two new songs - Turkish [The Spirit Song] and Bright young Things - the latter or which
was already become a fan favourite. Some tasty waltzing on All This Year and a spritely solo on Too Good For That were highlights,
as well as the out-of-her-head fourty-something female dancing on The Passenger. Frankly, awesome.
Henley-In-Arden - 20/10/05 - It turned out we the night's only entertainment, which was a
damn good thing, as naturally we would've upstaged any other performance. But seriously, we were dead good. In fact, the Alcester
Standard said (alright, it's not big, but they said,) "...some hot solos and singable licks kept the audience captivated for
the entire set..." which was nice of them. Donations received went to the charities selected by the organisers.
Battle Of The Bands, Cox's Yard - 5/10/05 - For the first real gig we'd played, this went down surprisingly
well. With the only hitches really bring a less than sympathetic sound man and the no-show of the Hoble Super6 (a guitar hand-built
by Charlie and Matt), we aquired thirty-odd new fans. A nice DVD was made of the momentous occasion, fortunately not recording
glimpses of the angry Ponies fans turned away by Cox's Yard because of a full venue, and is of course, available to buy now
for the princely sum of £2.50.
Alcester Grammar School 30/09/05 - We had a fun little jam organised for lunchtime today to give a
little taster of what was to come for a bunch of fans with nothing better to do, but unfortunately, most of them got kicked
out. So we played anyway, attracting a second crowd, consisting mostly of people who hadn't heard of us before. Wahey! One
group immediately said they wanted to help promote us and come to BOTBs. Good eh?
The Kasbah, Imlil, Morocco - Charlie and Matt had a successful seven-song set to thirty-odd french-speaking
moroccan children from a balcony in the hotel on their excursion. And the best bit? Not only staying for the entire [unplanned
- they just kept turning up] gig, but dancing along to Poor Old Harry, National Hero and, well, most of them. Fantastic.
The infamous song list:
National Hero
Bones 101
I Like Decadence
Have A Dream About Me
Too Good For That
The Passenger - Iggy Pop
All This Year
Turkish [The Spirit Song]
Better Than You
Give The People What They Want Honest Blue
Bright Young Things
You Suffer - Napalm Death
Poor Old Harry
I'd Give It A Two
This isn't a set list (it's in a random order) but you should see most if not all
these songs if you make it to a near-future gig.
